Dear Friend,

You might be curious about what your child might gain from their interest in puppetry. I'd like to suggest some advantages and possibilities that inherently make puppetry a medium for life-long learning.

  Why puppets?

Puppets, familiar in the everyday lives of children, are often dismissed as a mere novelty, while the vast educational value of puppetry is overlooked. At their most basic, puppets are an exceptional means of conveying a message. However, the value goes much, much further...

  Building blocks for learning...

Puppetry integrates more art forms, disciplines and subject matter than any other creative or dramatic medium. Exploring the puppet theater arts opens the door to history, music, math, science, creative writing and language arts, painting, sculpting, acting, dance and many other disciplines that have their roots in a multitude of cultures, some of which have puppetry traditions that extend back for thousands of years.

Puppetry provides you, as educators, the means to give your students the richest opportunities for learning these skills and subjects.

I will provide an educational study guide along with the performance, including references, histories, and activity ideas to help the teacher or parent build onto the puppet show experience.

Through puppetry children can learn new ways to express themselves while learning new skills, leading the child on a path of self-discovery and expression that help instill confidence and boost self-esteem. The cooperative effort needed to create a puppet show develops a child's ability to work with others, share ideas and solve problems.

With a deep love for the art form, The Frisch Marionette Company not only produces exceptional entertainment but gives new and valuable experiences that create sparks in children's minds, and stimulates interests that will stay with them for a lifetime!

  Sincerely,
